Sammie Lee Dawson was born December 20, 1954 to the late John Mose Sr. and Carrie Logan Dawson of Chatham,VA. Sammie was the youngest of fourteen siblings.
He was preceded in death of two infant siblings, one sister, Mary Plunkett, three brothers Mose Dawson Jr, James Dawson and George Dawson.
Those Left to cherish his memories include: his wife Mamie Busby Dawson of Rockford,IL, his daughter Shanita Callaud of Rockford,IL, 5 step children Bernice, Lisa, and Patricia Busby, Johny and Grace McFadden of Rockford,IL, his four sisters , Ida Barbour of Toledo, OH, Faye Robinson of Java,VA, Susan Ellis (Warren) of Hyattsville,MD; his three brothers Joe Dawson (daisy) of Washington D.C, Colonel Dawson (Valerie) of Chatham, VA, Smiley Dawson (Claudia) of Hurt, VA. his 3 grandchildren, his step grandchildren(16) and step great grandchildren(21) who he loved dearly,one aunt, four uncles, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Sammie wore many hats. He also worked many jobs including: a construction worker on the rail road, he was a DJ at j&b's club in the seventies, and he started his own lawn care and snow plow service in 2000.

Visitation will be held 9am Tuesday, July 29, 2014 with services beginning at 11am in Collins & Stone Funeral Home.
