Sammie Lee Barbary of Chicago, Illinois departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 9th, 2015 after a sudden illness. He was born on May 23, 1945 in Sumner, Mississippi, the son of Roosevelt Barbary Sr. and Mary Lee Barbary. He attended schools in Rockford, Illinois at Harry Morris Elementary and West High School in Rockford where he played Basketball. Sammie later left Rockford to reside in Chicago, IL. Sammie leaves to cherish his loving memories: brothers: Willie, Rev. Anderson (Janice) Barbary, Henry, Raymond, Kevin, and James (Marcella) Barbary of Memphis, Tennessee. Sisters: Ruthie (Rev. George) Rideout, Dorothy Joyner, and Michelle (Larry) Purifoy all of Rockford, IL. Elizabeth (Harry) Neal, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kathryn (Herbert), Hudson, Bloomington, IL., Donna Barbary (Aurora,IL) He also leaves to cherish his life and memories: two aunts, Ossie Mae Hall of Iverness, Mississippi and Mattie P. Barbary of Rockford, IL. Sammie wishes to acknowledge his love for his 21 nephews, 17 nieces, 64 great nephews and nieces, 3 great-great nephews and nieces, also his many cousins and friends. Special friends in Chicago, IL are George and Jessie. Special brother: Jesus Barbary and his special nephew Alfonso Barbary of Rockford, IL. He was predeceased in death by: son; Donald, his parents: Roosevelt Barbary Sr., Mother Mary Lee Barbary, five brothers; Roosevelt Jr., Robert, Keith, Cecil, and Grover (Jesus) Barbary. Paternal grandparents: Willie Barbary and Mary Ella Barbary. Maternal Grandparents: Willie Ross and Maggie Hall.
