Randy Allen Garner, 63, of Rockford passed away June 24, 2015 at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born June 23, 1952 in Rochelle, IL, to Marilyn (Finkboner) and Leo Garner, he graduated from Rockford Guilford High School in 1970. He married Laurel Spielman on May 27, 1976; she passed away June 16, 2015. Randy had retired after many years from OSF Saint Anthony MedComm department and previously was a Flight Medic with Lifeline Medical Helicopter. He was a long-time member of North Park Fire Protection District where he was a firefighter and dispatcher. He worked several years as a Medic at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in Rockton IL. He also worked many years in the Rockford area as a paramedic and CPR instructor, and had retired from the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department. Randy is survived by his daughter, Patricia (Greg Moser) Wilburn; son Lawrence (Victoria) Garner; granddaughter Breanna Wilburn; brothers Stephen (Rachel) Garner and Brent (Chris) Garner; sisters-in-law Peggy (Gary) Craig and Martha (Clarence) Weber; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many friends and colleagues. He is predeceased by his wife Laurel; parents Leo and Marilyn; step-mother Carshon Garner; parents-in-law Les and Beryl Spielman. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff at OSF Saint Anthony for their gentle care of Randy. Memorial Service for Randy and Laurel will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N. Rockton Ave, Rockford IL, with Pastor Douglas Williams officiating. Visitation from 9:00 to time of service. Collins & Stone assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
