Priscilla Rose Barmore was born February 24th, 1949, the daughter of Rev. Howard Capus Barmore Jr. and GaithaBarmore. Rose lived her lifetime in Rockford, where she attended Rockford Public Schools including West High School. Rose graduated from Rock River Training, Rockford Business College, Rock Valley College and Judson College. She married Herbert Benjamin Adkins in October 1966. Rose was employed as a paralegal for Attorney Samuel Dean for many years, and she was also employed by Rockford Housing Authority for 28 years, until her retirement. Rose was an Evangelist of God at a very young age, later becoming an ordained Pastor under the leadership of Elder Harkins, and Pastor Latchison Jr. Rose truly loved the Lord and The Word of God, and singing for God's Glory, all of her entire earthly life. She was also very instrumental in the founding and ministry of Women of the Word. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: Three sons, Shawn Barmore, Marchan (Sonyta) Adkins, and Sam Ellis. Five brothers: Melvin (Antoinette) Barmore, Samuel "Paul" (Gloria) Barmore, William "George" (Evelyn) Barmore, Christopher "Buck" (Maryann) Barmore, and Bruce Barmore. Four sisters:Irene (A.D.) Lott Jr., Nancy (Harry) Hagger Jr., Mary (Stan) Barmore-Reese, and Odessie "Gulley" Barmore. Rose dearly and truly loved her 31 Grandchildren and her 24 Great-Grandchildren, including her special grandchild, John "Bookie" Adkins. Rose was a family oriented and God-fearing woman, who always shared her love of life with all of her nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Rose has one surviving Aunt in Bronx, New York, matriarch Willie Mae Makenzie... To know Rose was to love Rose. Rose is predeceased by her ex-husband, Herbert "Wolf" Adkins, daughter Michelle "Shelley" Adkins-Howard, her parents Rev. Howard C. Barmore Jr., and Gaitha Barmore, one sister, Eleanor Marks and one brother, Phillip Barmore.
