Mattie Ingram

Mattie Joe Ingram was born October 17, 1937 in Lambert, Mississippi. She was the sixth child out of eleven born to the union of Will and Lena Evans.
She confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized at First Baptist in Lambert, Mississippi under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Hall. To her relatives and friends she was known as "Me Mattie Joe", but to her children and grandchildren she was affectionately known as "Momma".
Mattie attended Lambert Elementary School as young woman Mattie moved to New York, where she met Nathaniel Ingram. They up rooted joining her family in Chicago, Illinois where they married. Later moving to Rockford, Illinois where they called "Home". Mattie worked as a devoted Salad Prep in a Nursing Home for many yes. Although Mattie left her Southern roots behind, she carried her values of cooking HUGE Sunday dinners, fishing and gardening. Before Mattie succumbed to her fight with kidney failure. She stated "Thank You Jesus I made it".
Mattie is preceded in death by her husband, Nathaniel Ingram her parents Will and Lena Evans. Her two sons, Tyrone Ingram and Elijah Spears four grandchildren Tony Cook, Michael, Markeisha and Lil Maurice Ingram; two brothers, Willie James and Elijah, five sisters, Dorothy Starnes, Rosie Lee, Pearlie Mae, Elnora and Hattie Mae.
Mattie leaves to cherish her memory five children, five children, Sharon Breelove-Osorio (Ramon), Carol Wright (Harvey), Nathaniel Ingram (Melinda) Maurice Ingram (Banita) and Carl Ingram; seventeen grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren, three siblings, Maryfrances, William and Sallie Mae and a host of other relatives and friends.
