Obituary Lloyd E. Watkins Sunrise: August 15, 1927 - Simset: February 16, 2015
Lloyd E. Watkins, the son of Willie and Martha Watkins was bom in Princeton AR on August 15, 1927. There he attended the public schools and choose Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
He moved to Rockford, IL in the late 1960's and married the late, Mrs. Freda Watkins. He was united in holy matrimony to Mrs. Lizzie Mae (Hunter) Watkins of Rockford, IL in 1978. They shared the joys of life and their daily walk with Christ until his sudden departure on Febmary 16, 2015, during the early AM hour.
Lloyd united in fellowship with Christian Union Missionary Baptist Church in 1978, There, he served as a member of the OflBcial Board of Deacons, Usher Ministry, Male Choir, Mass Choir, and Outreach Ministry, until poor health limited his active involvements in these ministries.
Lloyd was an amateur fisherman, who loved to boost about the big catch! Even though, it really was a small fiy. He would spend a full day on the river-bank with his very close fiiend, Horace Hubbard, then stop at the fish market to buy fish for dinner.
Our fiiend and Brother has now joined the ranks of the BLESSED." His soul now rest with his Creator and First Loved, Jesus Christ. His presence will be missed imtil that day of resurrection, when we all gather at the throne of mercy to crown our Lord and Savior as the mler of all man-kind.
Lloyd is survived by his devoted wife, Lizzie Mae Watkins, (4) step-children, Valerie (Roy) Miller, James (Sharon) Watkins, Glenn (Mary) Watkins, and Gregory (Brenda) Watkins, (1) sister, Mabel Lock of CA, (3) sister-in-laws, Eldora, (Nehemiah) Davis, Southaven, MS, Effie and Berdie Watkins of Rockford, IL, a large family of nieces and nephews, (1) god-daughter, Jackie Merritt, his church family and best fnend, Horace Hubbard, who will share the memories of the earthly life of our dear love one and friend. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Martha Watkins, and (10) siblings.
