Leadale Simpson was born on August 24, 1945 to James Davis and Juanita (Jones) Davis in Sheridan, Arkansas. She graduated from Wilson High School in Malvern, Arkansas and entered the United States Air Force in 1963. She served for 18 months and was honorably discharged due to illness. She moved to Rockford, Illinois and continued her education at the Rockford School of Business and Engineering becoming a Legal Secretary.

Her union to Jimmy Horton in 1969 produced her only child, Lataisha. Leadale professed her faith in God in her early adult years and became an active member in the Church of Christ. She married Robert Simpson on August 24, 1977 and continued to grow in her walk with the Lord. Leadale worked for the State of Illinois and retired from Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden. Leadale enjoyed bowling and traveling. She attended lectureships all over the country and believed in supporting the ministry. She also loved children and contributed to charities for the betterment of children.

Leadale was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Carl Lee Davis. Leadale parted this earthly life on December 26, 2016 and she leaves to cherish her memory her husband Robert, brother Clyde Davis (Arkansas), sister Sally (Terry) Burner (Georgia), daughter Lataisha (Virgil) Dickerson (Indiana), grandsons Daerick and Deidrick, nieces and nephews Nikki, Kirby (Raven), Jonene, Renski, and Echo, 7 great nieces, 2 great nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
