Laurel Anne Garner, 66, of Rockford passed away at home Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Born February 24, 1949, in Rockford to Beryl (Gustafson) and C. Lester Spielman, Laurel graduated from Rockford West High School in 1967. She married Randy Garner on May 27, 1976; he passed away June 24, 2015. She was retired, but previously worked at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and with the Rockford Public Schools thru Adecco. She was involved with the American Legion Auxiliary Walter R. Craig Post #60, and volunteered at Aldersgate UMC and Wesley Willows. She was a Charter Member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Lori is survived by her daughter Patricia (Greg Moser) Wilburn; son Lawrence (Victoria) Garner; granddaughter Breanna Wilburn; sisters Peggy (Gary) Craig and Martha (Clarence) Weber; brothers-in-law Stephen (Rachel) Garner and Brent (Christine) Garner; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her close friend Linda Earlywine. She was predeceased by her parents Beryl and Les; parents-in-law Leo, Marilyn, and Carshon Garner. A Memorial Service for Laurel and Randy will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 4055 N. Rockton Ave, Rockford IL, with Pastor Douglas Williams officiating. Visitation from 9:00 to time of service. Collins & Stone assisted the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family.
