Jessie J. Mitchell departed this earthly life July 7, 2014 after a short illness. He was born in Holly Springs, MS on July 7, 1926 to James Mitchell and Lucille Hughes. Jessie was employed at J.I. Case for many years. Jessie Served in the Korean War. In his spare time Jessie enjoyed being a mechanic, and often worked on many family members cars. Jessie was a hard working man. Jessie married Gwendolyn Caldwell in 1985.
He leaves to cherish loving memories, his wife of 29 years, Gwendolyn, Sons; Stevie Mitchell, Donald Farris, Orlando (Synthia) and Michael Caldwell all of Rockford; Ricky (Lillian) Farris of Frisco, TX, Anthony (Wanda) Caldwell of Belvidere, IL; daughters; Dorothy Bowen of Milwaukee, WI; Hattie (Hosea) Gary-Breedlove, Debra "Bubbles" Gary , Theresa & Felecia Caldwell all of Rockford; sister-in-law, Debra Farris of Rockford; brother-in-laws: Ronnie (Dorothy), Glenn and Gregory (Angel) Farris all of Rockford; 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Special friend, Larry.
Predeceased by parents; James & Lucille Hughes; daughter, Marilyn "Tiny" Gary-Keller; sister, Annie Bell Mitchell; Son-Kerry Caldwell and Father-in-Law John F. Farris.
