Jamie Lee Pendleton was born March 14, 1922 in Harrisville, Mississippi eldest child of Ernest and Paralee Black Pendleton. He attended New Hymn High School in Pinola, Mississippi. As a child he attended New Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Pinola, Mississippi. On December 16, 1942, at the age of 20 he enlisted in the Army serving as a Sergeant in World War II serving for 3 years.
In 1945 he moved to Rockford, IL to become employed by the George Roper Corporation for several years and then joined the Gunite Corporation for which he worked for greater than 30 years as a machinist and, serving as a Union Stewart for local 718. He joined Bethel Baptist Church upon arriving in Rockford, IL. He later became a member of New Fellowship Baptist Church, for which he served over 20 years as a Deacon. He also became a member of the American Legion Jefferson-Horton Post 340.
It was in Rockford that he met and married the love of his life Alice Marie Caldwell. Of this union 5 children were born, Pamela Long, Dallas, Texas, Jamie Lamar (Annette) Pendleton, Lareatha, Sabrina and Darrell Pendleton of Rockford, IL.
He is survived by 3 sons Ronald Reed (Sandra), Springfield, IL, Jamie Lamar (Annette) Pendleton, and Darrell Pendleton of Rockford, IL. Four Daughters, Darneice (Willie)Nance-Swain, Buffalo, New York, Pamela Long, Dallas, Texas, Lareatha and Sabrina Pendleton of Rockford, IL. Seven grandchildren Shonna, Myshawn, Tekeda, Ommineka, Dawon, Darius and Destiny. Eight great grandchildren.
He is also survived by two sisters Dessie Ree Bass and Christine Williams of Rockford, IL. Six sister -in-laws May Nance and Irene Smith of Buffalo, New York, Lucy Bedford of Bellwood, IL, Brenda Robertson, Annette McNeely and Diane Shepherd of Rockford, IL. Two brother-in-laws Lawrence Sowell, and Edward (Pat) Sowell of Rockford and a host of many relatives and friends, including his special nephew Ernest Harold McIntosh, niece Joyce Bass and special friend Deacon William Moore.
He was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Paralee Pendleton, 3 sisters Elzeanor Lampkin, Maggie Lean Harper and Willie Etta Lomax.
