Mrs. Fannie B. James transitioned to glory on September 22, 2016 after a long illness, surrounded by family. Fannie was born to Rebecca Randle and Willis Polk on January 21st, 1935 in Lexington, Mississippi, she also attended and graduated school in Lexington. Fannie married the late Elbert James Sr, on June 16, 1951, to this union eight children were born. She leaves to cherish her memory, six of those children: Mattie R. James, Nancy J. Carr, Elbert James Jr., and Melissa James of Rockford Illinois. Annie E. Williams, and Fannie D. Grayson of Jackson, Mississippi., her only sister Elizabeth (John) Roby of Rockford, IL. Three nieces, Alesia Harris, Vertina (David) Charles, and Selena Williams, whom she helped to raise like her own, 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren. Special friends: Naimah Esa, Evelyn Phillips and Daisy Brown. She was a member of Gomez AME Chapel. Fannie was predeceased by her parents, her husband Elbert Sr., one brother Abram Randle, two sons Chester E. Robinson, and Robert L. James, and Stepson Kenny Straight.
