Elroy Sims, 77 of Rockford, was born September 28 1937, in Bluff City, Ark., to Roy and Queenester Sims. He attended Upchurch school in Prescott, Ark. He moved to Rockford in 1957. He attended West High School in Rockford, IL. He worked in Waterloo, IA as a welder for a few years. He worked in Rockford as a long distance truck driver for over 20 years before becoming ill. He is survived by his children, Felicia (Richard), Demetetrius and Julia, all of Rockford; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Zannie Strong, Della Sims, both of Rockford, Ella Owens of Camden, Ark., Loula Armstrong of Rockford; brothers, Roosevelt (Peggy) Sims, Robert Sims, both of Rockford; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; one uncle, Orlen Sims of Carbondale, IL. Predeceased by parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
