Dorothy Jean Walston, also known as "Mother Walston" was born in Athens, Alabama on July 29, 1932 to Early Sowell and Lee Odell Bell. Dorothy went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 20, 2015 at age 82.
Dorothy was the 2nd eldest of three siblings: Harold, Ben, and Earline Sowell. She married Amos Walston on February 29th, 1954; and together they raised 14 children in Rockford, IL.
Dorothy served on the Mother's Board for over 35 years. She was the pillar of her family; devoted member of her church (Mount Goshen); and a faithful servant of the Lord. Dorothy's dedication to her family and generosity to all was extraordinary and will forever be appreciated. Dorothy will always be remembered for her commitment to prayer and her unwavering faith in the Lord which was the foundation that she raised her children on.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory; her children: Henry (Murlene), Larry, Patsy, Amos Jr., Dennis (Nieves), Dorcas (Thomas Perteete), Robin, Randy (Jackie), Molly (Joseph Sawallisch), Bobby, Timothy, Sharon (Arnaldo Larosa); and 44 grandchildren; 76 great grandchildren, and 1 great great granddaughter to carry on her legacy; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded by Amos Walston (husband); Verice Smith (daughter); Michael Walston (son); Jonathan Walston (grandson); Raymond Walston (grandson); Jacob Brown (grandson); Demetrius Jeremiah McCloud (great grandson); and Shatara Goldsmith (great granddaughter).
