Loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother ROCKFORD - Bettie Jean George 79 departed this life Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Provena St. Anne Nursing Home. She was born August 13, 1934 in Minden, Louisiana. The daughter of Tom and Luna Wesley, She was preceded in death by both her parents.

Bettie attended schools in Camden, Arkansas and received her GED after coming to Rockford. Bettie married Doctor Busch George on November 12, 1950 in Rockford, IL. She was employed with St. Anthony's Hospital for several years and retired as an assembly worker at AG Communications Systems, Genoa, IL. After her retirement she worked at Milestone Inc.
Bettie was active in her neighborhood as she was President of the "Neighborhood Watch" and was a member of Friends of Booker Washington Community Center. Bettie friends knew that cooking was her passion and entertaining family and friends was her desire. She was long time member of Faith Center Church until she became Ill.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life husband Doctor Busch George of Rockford, IL, children Brenda (Lucius) Staggs of Sacramento, CA, Donald (Melvina) George, Beverly (Prentice) White, Deborah (Michael) Perteete, Darryl (Tammy) George, Sanford (Sheryl) George and Kimberly (Rueben) Robinson of Rockford, IL. She has 20 Grandchildren, 35 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren. She has a special Niece, Earlean Williams of Little Rock, AK and a loving God Daughter, Sonya Roby.

A Special thanks to her Granddaughter Kayla George and Kojo Dennis for providing expert care for her and Dad.

Home going Services will be at 12:00 PM Saturday, June 28, 2014 at Faith Center Church, 4721 S. Main St. with the Reverend Donald R. George Jr. officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until time of services. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL. Arrangements completed by Collins & Stone Funeral Home, 128 S. Fifth street Rockford, IL. 61104.

She will be greatly missed.
