Annie Keys

Annie P Keys, also known as Granny and Ann went home with the Lord July 19, 2016 surrounded by family. Annie's strong belief in God and with the devotion of her family supported her with her struggle with her illness. Annie was born on December 10, 1957 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to the late Raiford and Cornelius Townsend. Annie turned her life over to Christ at an early age and later joined church in Chicago, Illinois. She later joined United Faith Missionary Baptist Church and sometimes attended Berean Baptist Church.
Annie moved to Chicago in the late 70s with her late ex-husband Willie James Keys. In Chicago Annie worked in the community center until she moved to Rockford in the late 1900s. Annie then began working at Fair Haven Christian Retirement Home. She worked there a few years until she decided that her passion was taking care of children. Later in life Annie completed online classes and graduated with her Associates of Arts at the University of Phoenix with the support from her children.
Annie leaves to cherish her memories with 5 loving daughters, Chante, Felicia, Kimberly, Shavonne, Sherrell, and Andrianna; 2 sons James and Mandrell all of Chicago, IL. 5 sisters Matilda Sanders, Katie Curtis, Belinda Mason, and Dessie Curtis, Lisa Ellis precedes her in death. 2 brothers Raiford Combs Jr (Dick) and Harvey (JD) Combs who both precede her in death. Annie also leaves behind 19 grandchildren along with 4 great grandchildren and one grandson who precedes her in death. Annie also had a great amount of friendships that will cherish her memories, also preceding her in death is her longtime friend Edward Williams. Annie's time on this Earth may have been limited but the impact that she left on all the people she came in contact with will forever live on for eternity.
