Erma "Poosie" Simmons 67 of Rockford was born to Elmer Lee and Flossie Mae July 20, 1949 in Rockford, IL. She departed this earthly life on April 28, 2017. Erma attended Rockford public schools to later earn her GED in Arkansas. She went on to marry J.C. Simmons and they had four children: Jerry, Terry, Janice and Brian.
Erma worked as a housekeeper for River Bluff Nursing home for over 20 years. She attended Starlight Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing and bingo. She leaves to cherish her memories; daughter, Janice; sons, Jerry, Terry and Brian; three sisters, Joyce, Cassie, and Sara; four brothers, Elmer Jr, Leo, Ricky, and Calvin; eleven grandchildren, Tiffany, Dewayne, Gerri, Timothy, Antonio, Terrion, Rachianna, Danielle, Jerry Jr, Jeremiah and Marquise; fourteen grandchildren, special grandson, Prince Chatman; special friend, Bonnie Holliman; special niece, Shyrese Lilly; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
She was predeceased by both parents, one sister, Cassie; three brothers, Elemer Jr, Leo, Calvin and one grandson, Timothy.
She will always be remembered as being the life of the party and her favorite catch phrase "POP IT" will forever live on through us all.
