Doctor Bush George 1931-2017
Doctor" Doc" Bush George surrounded by his family departed this earthly life Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in Swedish American Hospital.
Born May 28, 1931 in Homer Louisiana; the son of Bush and Minnie Mae (Howard) George. Graduated from Lincoln High School in Camden, Arkansas where he played football and met his soon to be wife Bettie Jean (Wesley) George. In 1950 they moved to Rockford, IL where they married. Doc was employed at Barber Coleman for many years and retired from Chrysler Corporation, Belvidere, IL after working 22 years. Doc loved to cook for all seven of his kids. His goal was to make sure everyone had enough to eat before they left the table. His moto was "if all the food was gone, then someone must be still hungry!" He was a caring father who loved his wife and encouraged and supported all his kids to be the best that they could be. He was a devoted Chicago Bear and Cub fan and enjoyed watching them with his sons. A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grand -father and friend he will truly be missed.
Doc leaves to cherish many loving memories, children Brenda (Lucius) Staggs, Beverly (Prentice) White, Deborah (Michael) Perteete, Kimberly (Reuben) Robinson, Donald (Melvina) George, Darryl George, and Sanford (Sheryl) George. Doc has 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and two Great-Great Grandchildren. He also has a special niece, Earlean Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas. He is predeceased by his parents, two sisters Johnny Mae Beasley, Mae Ruth Pratt and his Wife of 64 years, Bettie Jean George.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. June 29, 2017 at Faith Center located at 4721 South Main Street, Rockford IL. Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial in Sun Set Memorial Gardens 8800 N. Alpine Road, Machesney Park, IL. Arrangements completed by Collins and Stone Funeral Home, 128 S. Fifth Street Rockford, IL 61104.
